It’s been said that libraries are our friends, but some people with disabilities are limited in how they can access the world of knowledge and entertainment a library offers. Now, thanks to Colorado State University occupational therapy graduate students, Fort Collins libraries are more accessible, after the students analyzed the library’s current systems, recommended new assistive technology and trained staff on how to use it.

Colorado State University’s Center for the New Energy Economy (CNEE) today announced the rollout of the Advanced Energy Legislation (AEL) Tracker – a new online database of energy-related state legislation pending in all 50 states, from solar to natural gas and everything in between. This first-of-its-kind database, created in partnership with Advanced Energy Economy (AEE), will also enable CNEE to conduct analysis of trends in state energy legislation.

Joe Duda, interim state forester with the Colorado State Forest Service, this week was presented the 2013 Forest Health Protection Aviation Safety Award from the USDA Forest Service for “outstanding contributions to aviation safety and support to forest health programs.” Only one candidate from state and federal organizations involved in national USFS aerial survey programs receives the award each year.

A team from the Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise MBA program in the Colorado State University College of Business won the Global Business School Network’s third annual MBA+ Challenge Video Contest. The contest invited business students from around the globe to submit videos showing how they are making a difference in the developing world through volunteer work, school projects, new enterprises or blossoming careers.

The Colorado Natural Heritage Program, a research unit in Colorado State University’s Warner College of Natural Resources, has just released the “Field Guide to Colorado’s Wetland Plants: Identification, Ecology and Conservation.” Although only about 2 percent of Colorado is made up of wetlands, they support almost 90 percent of Colorado’s ecosystems and wildlife, making wetlands an overlooked but valuable natural resource.
