Colorado State University Celebrates Native American Awareness Month

FORT COLLINS - Colorado State University’s Native American Cultural Center is celebrating Native American Awareness Month with a series of events throughout the month of November.

The events are intended to educate the CSU community about the Native American culture, history and customs. November has been declared National Native American Heritage Month by President Obama and Fort Collins Mayor Doug Hutchinson has also proclaimed a month of awareness.

“Traditionally this is the time of the year for stories to be told and shared,” said Ty Smith, director of the CSU Native American Cultural Center. “November provides an opportune time to share our stories, culture and history with the campus and Fort Collins community. The Native American Cultural Center is proud of the lineup of events this month and invites everyone to participate.”

Upcoming events at CSU include:

-Native American books will be on display throughout November at the CSU Bookstore in the Lory Student Center, Morgan Library and the Fort Collins Public Library.

-Grammy Nominee – Northern Cree Drum Group Performance and Fry Bread Sale
