Media Advisory: Statement from Former Gov. Bill Ritter Regarding Rumored Consideration for Energy Secretary

Below is a statement from former Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter, now director of Colorado State University’s Center for the New Energy Economy, on his rumored consideration as a potential nominee for U.S. Secretary of Energy. Ritter was unavailable for comment Tuesday evening because he is travelling for scheduled testimony before the North Carolina Mining and Energy Commission on Wednesday.

“I’m flattered to be considered for this position. As a nation, it’s a critical time to focus on energy policy. Coloradans have done a remarkable job putting in place an effective energy agenda and this consideration is a reflection of the energy work we initiated while I was governor. I’m very proud to continue that work at the Center for the New Energy Economy at Colorado State University. We meet with governors, legislators and regulators across the country in a non-partisan effort to bring people together to discuss these important issues. Energy has to be a non-partisan priority for our nation going forward."
