Keep New Year's Weight-Loss Resolution with Colorado State University's Nutrition Center

FORT COLLINS - With so many fad diets to choose from, figuring out a strategy to keep that New Year’s resolution of losing weight can be overwhelming. But fad diets don’t work; a plan based on the latest research -- and the help of a professional nutritionist -- can result in reaching weight-loss goals.

For the fifth year, Colorado State University’s Kendall Anderson Nutrition Center will guide people through nutrition, lifestyle and mindful eating education to lose weight and keep it off through tried and true methods.

Choice 1: Self-Paced Program (cost $50)
Ten self-paced units encourage weight loss by teaching participants how to control their portions, recognize hunger and fullness cues, eat mindfully, plan meals, change their behavior and more. Each of the units contains information on nutrition and physical activity, recipes, activities such as quizzes or worksheets, goal setting and homework to ensure ongoing motivation.

To register, visit www.nutritioncenter.colostate.edu/weightloss.aspx. Once purchased, a link to download the materials will be available.

Choice 2: Interactive Program (cost $175 includes binder and pedometer)
Ten weekly on-campus classes, noon-1 p.m. beginning Wednesday, Jan. 23, also teach how to control portions, recognize hunger and fullness cues, eat mindfully and plan meals and change behavior. Participants receive a professional course binder with handouts and recipes as well as a pedometer. This program also includes an introductory individual meeting with a registered dietitian, social support, weekly healthy snacks and prizes, and a hands-on cooking class.
