Dr. Mo Salman is an international expert in infectious disease. A veterinarian specializing in epidemiology and a professor in the Animal Health Population Institute, Salman's extensive global travels focus on animal health related to infectious diseases. Salman can talk about the international implications of a foot and mouth outbreak, the infrastructure of foreign veterinary disease monitoring agencies. The Animal Population Health Institute works around the world to initiate, coordinate and conduct research and educational programs to improve animal population health, to prevent and control infectious and other important animal diseases, and to contribute to national and international animal disease policymaking processes by providing a better understanding of disease epidemiology and pathogenesis. Dr. Salman is a veterinarian in Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in the Department of Clinical Sciences.
Dr. Paul Morley, an expert in veterinary infectious disease epidemiology and biosecurity at Colorado State University, can discuss security measures needed to contain foot and mouth disease and how foot and mouth disease spreads through an environment. Morley also can discuss why the disease does not pose a food safety risk, the impact on animal health and production, and US surveillance. Morley is a veterinarian in Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in the Department of Clinical Sciences.
